Worldcoin partners with Dune ahead of World Chain mainnet

Worldcoin is joining forces with Dune in a collaboration aimed at improving data accessibility for its blockchain network, World Chain. The Worldcoin Foundation announced the partnership on October 11, outlining plans to utilize Dune's web3 data analytics platform to ensure global access to on-chain data.

Dune will collaborate with Worldcoin, Tools for Humanity (a project contributor), and the Worldcoin Foundation to provide transparency and improve access to on-chain data for World Chain. This initiative comes ahead of the blockchain's mainnet launch.

Through this partnership, World Chain users, including developers, will have the ability to explore on-chain metrics related to real humans, decentralized finance protocols, exchanges, and other blockchain-based public projects.

Worldcoin’s new blockchain

Founded by OpenAI co-founder Sam Altman, Worldcoin has encountered several challenges since its launch in July 2023. Despite regulatory obstacles and controversies—particularly around its token supply—the project has experienced a surge in iris scanning and identity verification.

In 2024, Worldcoin introduced its World ID verification product in European countries like Poland and Austria, while also expanding into Asia and South America. However, the company, which rewards eligible users with its native WLD token after scanning and verifying their identity, has faced setbacks in jurisdictions such as Hong Kong, Spain, and Portugal.

In April, Worldcoin announced the upcoming launch of World Chain, a blockchain built on the OP Stack. The project is partnering with web3 platform Alchemy to roll out this new blockchain, which will integrate with the World ID, World App, and Worldcoin cryptocurrency. Additionally, World Chain will connect with Ethereum and Optimism as part of the broader Superchain initiative.

Users who verify their identity on World Chain to prove their humanity will receive benefits such as priority block space and gas-free transactions.
